Swedish massage was spread with the help of fencing master who didn't have any medical knowledge. The approach to massage of this master was rather simple and only mechanical and such massage brought injuries to patients.
By this time a lot of investigations on massage were already made and a lot of techniques on massage were described. One by one, doctors were inventing new methods of massages elaborating the old ones.
With the lapse of time Swedish massage changed a lot taking the main elements of classical massage. Thanks to it, it became less painful and soon it lost its popularity being substituted by the classical forms of massage.
